Lars Ström Posted April 9, 2014 Author Report Posted April 9, 2014 Finns ju en hel del Svenskar i Costa Rica. Marina in Costa Rica set for June groundbreaking April 9th, 2014 Golfito Marina Village & Resort, Costa Rica’s newest resort catering to superyachts, is scheduled to break ground in June. Hacienda El Dorado, the development team behind the venture, is focused on the town of Golfito, where the economy has lagged since the Chiquita Banana Co. closed its Costa Rica-based operations in 1985. The Golfito Marina Village & Resort seeks to provide hundreds of well-paying jobs in the construction, service and hospitality industries. Together with local government authorities, architects and a local real estate developer, the company is starting the development and renovation of the town’s main boulevard in a comprehensive multi-phase project, according to a statement. Plans include the construction of a renovated road connecting Golfito Airport with the town, a central plaza, Golfito History Museum, tourist information center, a local artists’ arts and crafts village, a new boardwalk with restaurants featuring local cuisine, souvenir shops, coffee shops, bicycle trails and rentals, water taxis to neighboring beaches and attractions and a community recreational park. The first phase of the deepwater marina will include 50 (of a total of 130) slips featuring private and secure dockage designated for yachts as large as 350 feet. The resort will offer beach residential villas, three private floating islands with villas, a Honeymoon Beach Villa, a deluxe hotel and accommodations for yacht captains and crew. Amenities include an open air spa, fitness facilities, swimming pools and an island restaurant with a nightclub, boat service yard, dry dock and a 265-foot fuel dock. With plans to host future sportfishing tournaments, Golfito Marina was designed specifically to meet angler requirements. In close proximity to the Panama Canal and south of the hurricane zone, it is on the edge of Golfito Bay on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. Quote

Lars Ström Posted May 8, 2014 Author Report Posted May 8, 2014 Har ju träffat Mercury´s Mark Schwabero ett antal gånger. Han har ett nytt jobb inom företaget nu. Brunswick names new president and COO May 8th, 2014 Brunswick Corp. said today that Mark Schwabero was elected to the newly created post of president and chief operating officer and Brunswick Boat Group president Andy Graves will be leaving the company. Schwabero, most recently president of Brunswick’s Mercury Marine engine segment, will be succeeded by John Pfeifer, who had been vice president of global operations for Mercury Marine. Schwabero will report to chairman and CEO Dusty McCoy. Graves’ direct reports — planning and business development vice president Jeff Behan, Boston Whaler president Huw Bower, Freshwater Group president Jeff Kinsey and Recreation Boat Group president Tim Schiek — will report to Schwabero. Schwabero will be responsible for all of Brunswick’s day-to-day operations, with the leadership of the company’s four business segments — engine, boat, fitness and bowling and billiards — reporting to him. “An important responsibility of our board of directors is to ensure that we have a deep and robust succession process. Today’s announcement reflects the quality of that process,”McCoy said in a statement. “Mark is an accomplished executive who is intimately familiar with Brunswick’s markets, particularly those in the marine segment from which the company derives the majority of its sales and earnings. The role of chief operating officer positions Mark to better learn and actively manage Brunswick’s overall operation and each of its business segments and to develop and execute our strategic imperatives. “John Pfeifer is taking the helm of a Mercury Marine organization that is strong and vibrant and building upon the momentum of a number of recent new products and engine innovations,” McCoy said. “John has been an integral member of Mercury’s leadership team, helping to fashion an energized organization that is setting the pace in today’s global marine marketplace.” “In conclusion, the fact that we can adopt and staff such an organization structure totally from within our management ranks is testimony to the depth, talent and bench strength that we have fashioned through the years at Brunswick,” McCoy continued. “We will miss Andy Graves, and we wish him the best and thank him for his contributions. He leaves behind a Boat Group that is better prepared and positioned to continue to prosper in this evolving and challenging marine market environment.” Quote

Lars Ström Posted June 9, 2014 Author Report Posted June 9, 2014 Trista nyheter.

Analyst raises expectations for MarineMax June 10th, 2014 An analysis firm is raising its guidance of MarineMax after holding “bullish” management meetings with CEO Bill McGill and chief financial officer Mike McLamb that indicated an increase in retail lending and higher-than-expected margins would contribute positively to the company’s bottom line. “We previously underestimated margin benefit from the new product cycle,” B. Riley analyst Jimmy Baker said after the meeting. Specifically, the firm underestimated the margin benefit from Sea Ray’s new products, Baker wrote in a report summarizing key takeaways from the meeting. “We may have also slightly underestimated the strength of the backlog MarineMax is building, though it has experienced some delays in initial Sea Ray deliveries,” Baker wrote, adding that some June quarter deliveries of Sea Ray’s newest models — the 350 SLX and the 510 Flybridge — have slipped into the September quarter. “Management commentary also suggests that credit availability is becoming a modest incremental tailwind — one that we were able to successfully verify with additional channel checks,” Baker writes. “We first learned of certain zero-down programs re-entering the market in 2013.” Now it appears that 2014 is seeing more lenders re-entering the retail lending market, including the subprime space. “As terms become more flexible and availability improves, this expands MarineMax’s addressable market,” Baker wrote, adding that MarineMax does not finance any sales via its own balance sheet, but instead facilitates the process with partner lenders for a fee. “Lastly, it sounds as though management has an active funnel of potential acquisition targets, though it remains disciplined in its approach to inorganic unit growth,” Baker said. MarineMax continues to see improving activity in high ASP product, Baker says. The company continues to do well with Azimut, but it is also seeing improving order activity in Sea Ray and “is in the early innings of what could be a lucrative new relationship with Ocean Alexander.” The firm is raising expectations slightly for fiscal years 2014-2016 — from $0.50, $1.02 and $1.57 to $0.51, $1.04 and $1.60 — while reiterating its buy rating and $20 price target. (Photo courtesy of STX Europe) Germany's closely held Meyer Werft and the Finnish government are nearing a deal to buy the Turku shipyard in southwestern Finland from STX Europe , the Finnish economy ministry said on Monday. STX Europe belongs to Korean STX. The Turku shipyard specialises in building cruise ships and has suffered from a lack of orders in recent years. STX said last year it was looking to sell some of its shipyards. Finland's government in 2012 faced heavy criticism for not providing a loan to the shipyard, which contributed to its loss of a 1 billion euro ($1.4 billion) order for cruise ships along with hundreds of potential jobs. "The buyer consortium has reached preliminary understanding with the Korean seller about the conditions of the sale," the ministry said in a statement, but added there are still several open questions. The parties hope to announce an agreement by the end of next week, the ministry said.(Reporting by Sakari Suoninen, editing by David Evans) Quote
