My Neighbor got a Paint Gun from Harbor Freight  and he’s painting vehicles now… so if you need a custom paint job, he’s very reasonable..🤣

Restless Soul...uppdatering.

Scot Hunsaker  ·

One of our favorite places in the Chesapeake is St. Michael’s. We were here last year too.

Sue and I arrived this past Friday. We came in from Tides Inn at Irvington, Virginia. This was going to be a long run at 100 miles. The plan was to leave at 5 am and do a 10 hour run at 10 knots. With diesel around $6.00 a gallon this was a fuel efficient plan.

We had been watching a storm for the past 24 hours and at 10 am it was clear that it was heading our way, fast. We kicked up the speed from 10 knots burning 10 gallons an hour, to 19 knots burning 75 gallons an hour.

I was hopeful, but we just missed it. Sue and I were in full foul weather gear and as we were throwing the lines the rain and wind hit. The dock crew was exceptional. We got secured and then went inside to weather the storm. After the storm, we took Cassie ashore and hooked up the power.

St. Michael’s is absolutely beautiful. We had two days for just the two of us to explore. We took the bikes off and covered all the streets. We had dinner at the Bistro and after mom joined us we ate breakfast at the Galley and dinner at Limoncello. All were amazing meals!

When Mom (Sandy) joined us, we rented a golf cart and did the city tour again together.

This morning we planned to depart St. Michael’s around 9:30 and arrive in Annapolis around 1pm.

Best laid plans.

We were all ready to go and I went to start the engines. The starboard engine came up with several alarms when I turned on the ignitions. None of them were good.

After 2 hours and numerous phone calls, we determined the computer that runs the starboard engine crashed and needs to be replaced. While that is a major bummer, the engine will not start and there is no work around. We confirmed it was safe for the transmission to run on one engine. We departed St. Michael’s a little after noon. The original cruise time would have been 2.5 hours. Now on one engine, we are planning on 6 hours.

We have the Annapolis marina on standby to be prepared for us coming in on one engine. We have been here before and it is very tight. I will make the call when we arrive, but plan B is to call Tow Boat US for a little extra help.
